Bertrand Ambroise Corton Le Rognet 2005

We're sorry, but this product is not currently available.

Bertrand produces some of the finest examples of Pinot Noir and Chardonnay in Burgundy. He often works with 10%-30% lower yields than are allowed. His genuine passion only to produce wines from absolutely ripe grapes demands a severe green harvest and an additional inspection or sorting of the fruit prior to fermentation. All of this detail work has created a worldwide demand for his wines. The style of Bertrand's wines can be characterized as ripe, deeply extracted, full bodied, structured Pinot Noirs with clean fruit flavors being the focus. This Corton has sweet aromas of cassis, blackberries and toast. A very powerful wine!

Wine AdvocateSandalwood, machine oil, blackberry and cassis rise from the glass of 2005 Corton Rognets. In the mouth, this exhibits admirable purity and clarity of raw black fruits, low-toned charred meat, chalk, salt and wet stone minerality. Formidably yet finely tannic, this darkly-shaded and multi-layered wine really mines the mineral profundity of Corton and epitomizes the raw fruit intensity of which the vintage is capable. The stout of heart should lock this away for a decade or more.
