Made from 100% Powerline Vineyard (since 2015), the 2017 Grenache The Boy Powerline Vineyard sports a lighter ruby hue as well as Rayas-like notes of decayed flowers, kirsch liqueur, licorice, and cured meats. Seamless, medium-bodied, and beautifully polished, with fine tannins, it's a stunning, Burgundian example of this variety to enjoy over the coming 15-20 years. There are a little over 1,000 cases produced.

Light-medium red with a pale rim. Spicy red berries, red cherry, Espelette pepper and savory minerality on the nose. A bit less green, wild and olive-y than the 2016 version, this glossy, fine-grained midweight conveys modest nuance to its red fruit and spice flavors. Finishes classically dry, with suave, fine-grained tannins and slowly building length. This rather polite Grenache may have more energy to support aging than its 2016 predecessor, but will it ever be as interesting or wild?
