Orientation: Multiple parcels, varied exposure Soil: Steep clay hillside Viticulture: Gerard works the soil manually and lets nature make the wine Vinification: Tank fermented. Boulay adds no yeast and minimal amounts of SO2 Aging: Tank aged Production: 200 cases annually Notes: Unlike many Sancerre Roses, Gerard harvests his Pinot specifically to make rose by direct press, then into tank. It is not a selection of young vines as he has no young Pinot vines. What makes the rosé one year could make red another, and vice versa, depending on what the vintage gives.
Moutard Pere et Fils Brut Rosé CuvaisonA particularly fruity pink Champagne, with a lovely salmon tint. This Champagne is for the whole meal.
Antichi Vigneti di Cantalupo Il Mimo 2016The climate here is not dissimilar from that around Alba where the nebbiolo grape reaches its apogee in the wines of Barbaresco and Barolo, with warm summers and foggy autumns allowing nebbiolo to again produce lovely wines. Located so close to the alpine peak of the Monte Rosa, which is the second highest mountain in all of Europe, the soils of Ghemme are not rich by any stretch of the imagination, and the corresponding wines are elegant and medium-full in style.
Hecht & Bannier Côtes de Provence Rosé 2016For our Cotes de Provence rosé we take a path quite apart from the one we follow for our Languedoc rosé, with its high proportion of Syrah. We have sought a Provence rosé of immense charm and minerality redolent of fennel, anise and purple flowers. We love just sipping this wine out on our garden in Aix-en-Provence. Grab a glass with some friends and taste with a fougasse, some anchovies and even some Salonenque olives.
