Belpoggio Brunello di Montalcino 2012
|Region||Italy, Tuscany, Brunello di Montalcino|
Wine AdvocateEnrico Martellozzo of Belpoggio makes solid but informal wines and this new effort fits right into that house philosophy. The Belpoggio 2012 Brunello di Montalcino makes a good showing of dark fruit and ripeness with blackberry and cassis. Spice, leather and grilled herbs add extra dimension at the back. Aged in large oak casks for three years, this wine drinks well straight out of the gate. Some 16,000 bottles are produced.
Wine EnthusiastEarthy game, truffle, underbrush, used leather and dark-skinned fruit aromas lead the nose. They carry over to the taut, tightly wound palate, where austere, dusty tannins leave a drying finish.
