Torre de Ona Reserva 2012 Bottle

Torre de Ona Reserva 2012 Bottle

We're sorry, but this product is not currently available.

Medium-high depth, dark-cherry red with an intense garnet-red rim. Clean and bright. Intense aromas, typical of this Rioja Alavesa terroir, with notes of ripe berries (blackberries, blueberries and raspberry jam) against a background of spices, clove, aniseed, incense, tobacco, and mocha. Mild attack with medium body and nice structure. It is well-balanced with sweet tannins. A wine that stands out for its broad and silky aftertaste, where notes of ripe fruit and sweet spices complement those from painstaking barrel ageing. Food pairing: The perfect match to all kinds of stews, casseroles and meat-based recipes. Also ideal with spicy sauces and medium-aged cheeses.

Wine AdvocateLast time I caught the 2012 Reserva just before it was bottled, so it was good to see the finished version with some time in bottle, and glad to see that it made it to the top of my range last year, with its modern but not excessive profile. Even though the tannins are fine, it could benefit from some more time in bottle and can stand up to hearty food. Just as a reminder, the wine was not produced in 2011 or 2013. 100,000 bottles.

Wine SpectatorDark chocolate, tar and licorice notes lend a refreshing bitter edge to the ripe plum and currant fruit in this dense red. Structured but not heavy, with well-integrated tannins and balsamic acidity supporting the smooth texture. Drink now through 2025. 8,000 cases made.
