Ponzi Vineyards Aurora Pinot Noir 2013
|Region||United States, Oregon|
Wine AdvocateThe 2013 Chardonnay Aurora comes from southeast facing vines located at a slightly higher elevation than the Avellana vineyard. It is matured in 30% new French oak (Luiza told me she is using more puncheons these days) and 70% used for 18 months. It has a lovely bouquet with persimmon, hints of nougat and white flowers infusing the citrus fruit that is well defined. The palate is well balanced with crisp acidity on the entry. There is a very light marine influence and plenty of salinity towards the finish, if not quite the persistency of a truly great vintage. Still, this is well crafted and should give over a decade's worth of drinking pleasure.
