Red Rock Winery Reserve Merlot 2010
|Brand||Red Rock Winery|
Merlot is making somewhat of a comeback and this 2010 Merlot is a very good example of this varietal. A blend of 91% Merlot and the rest Petite Sirah and Cabernet Sauvignon from Sonoma (two-thirds) and Central Coast, Napa and San Joaquin County, it is a dark ruby/plum-colored, round effort displaying notes of cola, black cherries, raspberries and a hint of vanillin. Low in acidity, juicy and lush, it is an ideal Merlot to drink over the next 2-3 years.
A tasty little red, if a bit generic for a Merlot, with appealing cherry and spicy herb notes. A tad rough on the finish. Drink now through 2016.
