Orientation: Multiple parcels, varied exposure Soil: Steep clay hillside Viticulture: Gerard works the soil manually and lets nature make the wine Vinification: Tank fermented. Boulay adds no yeast and minimal amounts of SO2 Aging: Tank aged Production: 200 cases annually Notes: Unlike many Sancerre Roses, Gerard harvests his Pinot specifically to make rose by direct press, then into tank. It is not a selection of young vines as he has no young Pinot vines. What makes the rosé one year could make red another, and vice versa, depending on what the vintage gives.
Antichi Vigneti di Cantalupo Il Mimo 2015All the main activities connected with cultivation (pruning, tying down, leaf stripping, thinning out of bunches) are done manually. Harvesting too is performed by hand at different times for each plot and each type of vine species so as to guarantee the perfect degree of ripeness of the grapes. The wines are aged both in traditional Slavonian oak barrels and in small French oak casks kept in the picturesque terraced cellar cut into the hillside. The character of Cantalupo wines has been perfected over the years through continual research and innovation in tune with the company's culture, history and accumulated technical experience.
Hecht & Bannier Côtes de Provence Rosé 2016For our Cotes de Provence rosé we take a path quite apart from the one we follow for our Languedoc rosé, with its high proportion of Syrah. We have sought a Provence rosé of immense charm and minerality redolent of fennel, anise and purple flowers. We love just sipping this wine out on our garden in Aix-en-Provence. Grab a glass with some friends and taste with a fougasse, some anchovies and even some Salonenque olives.
