Château-La-Fleur-Petrus Pomerol 2006
Wine EnthusiastRich, sweet chocolate flavors balance with equally sweet blackberries in this opulent wine. This ripeness goes right through to the heart of the concentrated texture, even the tannins sharing in the generosity. This is a delicious wine, but wait for five years and it will be even better.
Wine SpectatorBlackberry, spice¿such as cinnamon¿and mineral aromas lead to a full body, with tobacco, chocolate and cedar character. There's lots of milk chocolate and fruit. Very pretty. Best after 2012.
Wine AdvocateFrom barrel, I had much higher hopes for this wine as a potential candidate for the wine of the vintage. That said, it is still an outstanding effort, but it has nowhere near the prodigious depth and intensity that I thought. With sweet black cherry fruit intermixed with hints of truffle, kirsch, and even blacker black currants and licorice, the wine displays pure, nicely textured, medium-bodied flavors in a sensual style, but nowhere near the depth, length, and potential longevity I had expected. Anticipated maturity: 2012-2025.
